The concept of health care is both wide and varied. Here at this practice we attempt to integrate a common sense approach to Osteopathic and Integrative Medicine.

The scope of practice of Osteopathy generally follows a common sense approach to healthcare that views each patient in entirety.

Integrative Medicine - Allopathic medical training teaches the methods required to accurately diagnose a medical condition, but the treatment may centre on prescribing medications that are mostly symptomatic based. These medications may not address the underlying cause of your illness, or do they seek to improve your overall level of health. Integrative Medicine recognises that your health is determined by a complex interaction of physical, psychological, genetic, environmental and social factors and attempts to incorporate this in generating a therapeutic process.

Osteopathic Medicine generally utilises a set of principles to access the musculoskeletal system using viable and proven technique for many hands-on diagnoses and treatments. Often, it can provide an alternative to more intrusive therapies. In addition to treating specific health problems, the goal is to help every patient function at his or her highest level of efficiency.

Our Approach to Patient Care

Healthcare is complex and individual. At Ashmore Osteopathic Group, our approach combines contemporary osteopathic practice with evidence-informed, patient-centred care. We recognise that each person’s health is influenced by a combination of physical, psychological, lifestyle, environmental and social factors, and these are considered during assessment and management where relevant.

Osteopathy is a regulated healthcare profession that focuses on the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopaths use detailed clinical assessment together with a range of manual therapy techniques, exercise advice, rehabilitation and patient education to support movement, function and overall musculoskeletal health. Management plans are individualised and developed in collaboration with each patient, taking into account their clinical presentation, goals, current evidence and personal preferences.

Where appropriate, our practitioners may also incorporate selected evidence-informed approaches from integrative medicine as part of a broader management plan. Integrative medicine aims to consider the whole person and may draw upon lifestyle, nutrition and other complementary strategies alongside conventional healthcare where appropriate. These approaches are not intended to replace conventional medical care but may complement it as part of an individualised treatment plan.

Our goal is to help patients better understand their condition, make informed decisions about their care and support improvements in movement, function and quality of life through appropriate, evidence-informed management.
